Sustainable development has been becoming the indispensable development trend in all fields in the 21st century when humans face various natural, economic and social challenges. In other words, the awareness demand of humans for sustainable development and the factors that affect the sustainable development scientifically is becoming urgent. Although researching into sustainable development has been seriously considered in Vietnam, most of researches on this field are conducted in the angle of separate applied sciences. Thus, it is time to do researches on this field from an interdisciplinary angle. It is because a highly interdisciplinary science in sustainability (sustainability science) whose content includes knowledge of different fields could help humans be aware of the nature of sustainable development rightly and deeply, recognise risks and find out the practical solutions to the problems that threaten the sustainable development of nations as well as of the whole world.
