INTRODUCTION
Sustainable development has been becoming the indispensable development trend in all fields in the 21st century when humans face various natural, economic and social challenges. In other words, the awareness demand of humans for sustainable development and the factors that affect the sustainable development scientifically is becoming urgent. Although researching into sustainable development has been seriously considered in Vietnam, most of researches on this field are conducted in the angle of separate applied sciences. Thus, it is time to do researches on this field from an interdisciplinary angle. It is because a highly interdisciplinary science in sustainability (sustainability science) whose content includes knowledge of different fields could help humans be aware of the nature of sustainable development rightly and deeply, recognise risks and find out the practical solutions to the problems that threaten the sustainable development of nations as well as of the whole world.
Training Target
The master program in sustainability science aims at training high quality human resources knowledgeable about the sustainability related issues in the fields of decision making, environment, education and economics in order to satisfy the demands of governments and localities for the implementation of nations’ target of sustainable development. In addition, this program also aims at providing human resources for international integration, exchange and participation in international forums on sustainable development.
Output Standard
Students will be provided with knowledge about scientific bases of sustainability, development models and aspects of sustainability in specific fields (natural science, social science and humanity, economics and education) so that they can gradually master provided knowledge and apply it creatively to solve problems in life. Apart from the acquired knowledge, students will be also provided with the skills of systematical thinking, reasoning and problem analysing in the interdisciplinary view. They are essential skills for consulting and decision making for sustainable development.
