In the air of celebrating Vietnam Teachers' Day on November 20, 2017, the VNU University of Science received a confirm letter from the Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) announces that the VNU-HUS officially has fulfilled the requirements for AUN-QA Institutional Assessment.
The University of Science is the first university in Southeast Asia to conduct accreditation and meet the AUN-QA quality standards at the institutional level. This is an important milestone on the journey to make the VNU University of Science become an advanced research university in the future. Previously, from 15 to 20 January, 2017, the University has conducted an institutional assessment in accordance with AUN-QA standards. VNU University of Science is the first university in Southeast Asia to accredit quality standards.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the VNU University of Science confirmed: "This is the result of careful attention and guidance of leaders at all levels, efforts, striving very actively the results of all the units, cadres, learners throughout the University and the support, valuable cooperation of the units and individuals concerned.”
In the period from 2012 to 2015, there are 6 AUN-QA accredited training programs offered by the AUN. This is a bachelor program in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Geology and Environmental Science. Of which, the Chemistry and Geosciences degree program is 5.0, which is the second highest rated academic program in Southeast Asia.
This week, from 21 to 23 November, 2017, the University will receive the AUN Assessor team for quality accreditation for 02 bachelor programs in Physical Geography and Meteorology.
With the aim of developing human resources through higher education in the ASEAN region, in 1995, the ASEAN University Network (AUN) was established. Up to now, 27 universities from 10 countries in the region have become members of this organization.
Comprised of 25 standards and 111 criteria of the standards, the AUN quality assurance standards are the target of many universities in Vietnam and in South East Asia. The goal of the university is not only to attract students but also to assure the quality of the training. Institutions are progressing towards building a quality culture of a university. Evaluation aims at strengthening the quality of training, research and services in a comprehensive way, assessing the effectiveness of the internal quality assurance system. Thus, the quality assessment at the institutional level will enhance the AUN-QA Network's goal of ensuring university quality in Southeast Asia.
