This is the first time that IStartup 2019 for students of VNU – IS is held. The competition has drawn much attention from the students of the department. After the training session, the organization committee had selected 30 30 teams with more than 100 students to participate in the next round. IStartup has created an opportunity for students to prove themselves, make the ideas a reality with high possibility and bring benefits to the community.

After 2 intensive rounds, 5 outstanding teams were chosen as finalists. 5 teams include: 4DOTS with the project of improving and introducing smart public restroom, HSLTT00313 competes with project of connecting students, temporary unemployed people, … with temporary jobs; The Second Prize’s Team with the idea of providing open and private working space for students; HeroesnZeros picks the project of making milk from organic cereal to participate in the competition; Mai Le Kien with Maudy project – online shopping app. What makes the competition special is the fact that students must write their projects and present them completely in English. With confidence and fluency in English, the teams have persuaded even the toughest judge.

In the end, 4DOTS team wins 1st prize. 4DOTS has improved and introduced public restroom model which is intelligent, more convenient and cleaner for users with the hope that this model will reduce people inappropriate urination in public in Hanoi and contribute to an image of a beautiful Hanoi in the eyes of foreign friends.

Prof. Lynn Lannon – lecturer from Keuka University, member of the judging panel, highly appreciates 5 projects that make the Top 5: “Although this is the first time that students of VNU – IS participate in an entrepreneur competition but I feel that you have put your passion and enthusiasm into your ideas. Through the presentation, I see that you have had a detailed understanding of the market and are able to handle all my questions very well”, Prof. Lannon shares.

The final of VNU – Istartup Innovation Ideas 2019 has left beautiful memories among the participants. The competition has been helpful to the students of VNU – IS, helping them develop entrepreneur ideas along with having new knowledge and skills necessary for future employment. In the near the future, VNU – IS is hoped to hold more similar and meaningful events for the students.
