On 29th October, 2018, VNU-IS has launched a new Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management joint training program with TROY University, US. There were 66 freshmen as well as the first cohort of the program.
At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh, VNU-IS Dean, claimed that this is the first program in Vietnam integrating 4 segments namely hospitality, sport, tourism and management science. The program’s objective is producing high qualified human resources to serve the country, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution where robots will overtake humans for many jobs in the future of work.
"To survive the tightly labor market, students need to focus on enhancing their knowledge, learning foreign languages and soft skills. VNU-IS always expects the first graduates of the program to have professional qualifications and meet the requirements of employers and social demands”, said VNU-IS Dean.

Enrolling in the Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management program is a challenge to first-year students due to the program being conducted in English. “I decided to study Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management at VNU-IS to acquire specialized knowledge in English. I hope after graduation I will have opportunities to work in Vietnam and abroad, at travel companies or prestigious hotels in the world”, Ms. Le Bich Xuan, excellent freshman of the program, shared her thoughts. Ms. Le Bich Xuan got a score of 24 overall in her entrance exam in accordance with 8.0 IELTS. Of the 66 freshmen of the program, 11 had IELTS certificates.

At present, VNU-IS is proud to be the first academic institution providing training in 3 areas namely Hospitality, Sport and Tourism (whilst other institutions normally offer Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management program only). In addition, VNU-IS also delves into its strengths and limitations of existing programs in order to drawn on experience.
Students of the Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management program have many employment opportunities. With the knowledge and skills cultivated, students can succeed in various job positions such as international tourism management; market research, tourism products & sport events development, marketing organizer; travel business management; key personnel in operation and management of hotels and diversified large-scale resorts; tourism and hospitality teaching and research…
The National Tourism Development Strategy estimated that tourism sector will require about 750.000 bachelors of tourism and hospitality by 2020, and of that number approximately 55.000 will work at a managerial level or higher. With such a huge demand for human resources, students of the Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management with good knowledge and skills can grasp a wide range of employment opportunities domestically and overseas.
