Four universities in Hanoi including Vietnam National University, Hanoi appeared on the prestigious QS World University Rankings.
On March 4, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) announced university rankings categorized by studying fields. Can Tho University ranks 251-300 in agriculture and forestry. This is the first time Vietnam has a representative on the world rankings in this industry.
In the group of mechanical engineering, aviation, and manufacturing, Hanoi University of Science & Technology increased 100 levels, from 451-500 last year to 351-400 this year. This is also the only Vietnamese representative to be ranked in this industry group. Prof. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Dynamic Engineering (Hanoi University of Science & Technology) said that this was "a great effort in a year of the whole team".
Similarly, Hanoi University of Science & Technology increased 50 steps to reach the top 351-400 group of best Electrical and Electronic Engineering schools.
In the group of Computer Science and Information Systems, Hanoi University of Science & Technology increased 50 levels, from 501-550 last year to 451-500. Vietnam National University, Hanoi retains its position in the 501-550 group. Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh was first ranked, in the group 551-600.

In the field of Mathematics, for the first time, Vietnam has two schools in the top 500. In which, Vietnam National University, Hanoi ranked 401-450, Hanoi University of Science & Technology in the group 451-500. Vietnam National University, Hanoi also appears on the ranking of Physics and Astronomy, in the group 551-600.
QS World University Rankings by Rankings rank the best universities according to 48 industry groups, divided into 5 main areas. In 2020, QS ranks 1,368 schools in 158 countries and territories.
Universities are ranked based on four criteria: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per paper and H-index (a measure of productivity and impact of scientific publications). In particular, the reputation among academics is rated with the highest weight, accounting for 40%. Besides, this year QS analyzed 22 million scientific publications and 200 million citations to give data for the rankings.
QS is an educational institution founded in 1990, a pioneer in university rankings, annually producing world and regional university rankings, by industry group, the top school under 50 or city Ideal for students. QS's university rankings, together with Times Higher Education magazine and Shanghai Jiaotong University (China), are the world's top three prestigious rankings.
