1. Overview

 The Master program in Area Studies at Vietnam Japan University (VJU) has following objectives:

- Equip students with advanced knowledge of Area Studies (Japanese Study/Vietnamese Study) basing on modern theories, methodologies and interdisciplinary approach which are used by international scientists, especially used in well-known Japanese and Vietnamese Universities and Institutes;

- Equip students with general, updated and comprehensive knowledge related to Japanese and Vietnamese issues (including the issues of social science and natural science, especially geography, environmental resources, sustainable development); 

- Train students to have skills to survey, research and elucidate by the interdisciplinary approaching method with regards to problems and phenomena found in practices of Japan, Vietnam, and other areas sustainable development.

2. Career Orientation

 

After graduation, students have ability to take positions which require general and inter-disciplinary researching skills in international organizations, diplomatic agencies, government organizations and NGOs, universities and research institutes, services and trading companies, especially Japanese companies. Students can also pursue PhD degree at leading universities in the world, especially those in Japan.

7. Policy of tuition support and Scholarship: 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Admission capacity: 20 students per intake

 

 

 

 

 

- University graduation with GPA >= 2.5/4.0 in majors specified in the curriculum".

- English requirements:        

* For official enrollment: Level 3/6 (IELTS 4.0-4.5) in Vietnamese reference framework for foreign language (Circular No. 01/2014/TT-BGDĐT) or equivalent.

* After the first year, English proficiency must be at least Level 4/6 (IELTS 5.0-5.5)in Vietnamese reference framework for foreign language (Circular No. 01/2014/TT-BGDĐT) or equivalent.

- Japanese requirements for Japanese Study: Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) ≥ N2;

- Vietnamese requirements for Vietnamese Study: Foreigners and overseas Vietnamese need to pass Vietnamese language proficiency test.

LIST OF THE SAME, RELEVANT OR CLOSELY RELATED MAJORS FOR MASTER PROGRAM IN AREA STUDIES

 

 

 

- Holders of a bachelor’s degree in majors under Humanities majors category and Social and behavioral sciences majors category;

- Holders of a bachelor’s degree in majors of Natural sciences with high multi-disciplinary nature shall be considered by the Admission committee based on the application documents;

- Holders of a bachelor’s degree in majors from abroad, which do not match any majors in the list of training majors by the Ministry of Education and Training, shall be considered by the Admission committee based on the application documents.
