1.Program Overview
The Master program in Nanotechnology is based on the program of Osaka University (Japan) with some adjustment to match the situation in Vietnam.
The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, deepening the specialized knowledge as well as expand the interdisciplinary knowledge in order to understand the issues related to the Nano-sized world and master the advanced technology in the field of Nano Science.
Through the program, students will be able to accumulate skills in research methods, detecting, analyzing and problem solving abilities, the fabrication process, the materials survey and Nano devices. On that basis, students can research and apply components and nano materials into practice in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, environment, energy... To update the latest achievements of Nano Science and Technology in the world, some of newest research in the field of Nanotechnology in Vietnam, Japanese and abroad as well will be put into teaching content.
Duration: 24 Months
Training Method: Fulltime
Teaching language: Vietnamese and English
Location: Vietnam Japan University - My Dinh Campus
2. Career Orientation
After graduation, students will have the skills needed to become managers, researchers, and technicians at enterprises working in the field of R&D in nanotechnology. They will also be qualified to become academic researchers or join the teaching staff at universities and research institutes, as well as science and technology management staff in the public sector. Students could also pursue PhD degrees at leading universities in the world, especially in Japan.
3. Advantages of the Programme
- With a learner-centered training method, students in the program are encouraged to maximize their capabilities and choose research orientation;
- The program has high practicability, the knowledge of program can be applied into practice. The courses of the program are a combination of theory and practice through lessons in classroom and laboratory;
- International academic environment with at least 50% of program’s lecturers coming from Japan, modern facilities and laboratories. Students also have the opportunity to participate in scientific projects, cutting-edge research projects which study the phenomena at the Nano-sized in some fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, environment, energy... with prestigious professors;
- Cost of three-month internship in Japan is fully covered for 50 percent of students;
- Providing modern knowledge and skills in a multi-culture context, especially Japanese culture;
- The advantage of employability and job opportunities in the leading business organization in Japan, Vietnam and abroad after graduation;
- The graduates can continue studying PhD at leading universities of Japan and all over the world.
4. Japanese Coordinating University
(Osaka University is ranked 4th among the most reputable and prestigious universities in Japan and 15th in Asia, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014).
5. Message from the Program Director
Prof. Nguyen Hoang Luong Prof. Yoji Shibutani
Vietnam National University Osaka University
"Nanotechnology is the field that changes the world. The Master’s program in Nanotechnology at VJU aims to cultivate human resources who are largely expected to develop and aggressively progress Vietnamese industry and academia for future national growth. Especially, this program puts much emphasis on the abilities of students to look at the nanoscopic view from the quantum-level, and through deep thought and the resolution of complex problems to make ceaseless breakthroughs in high technology. Also, the needs of the interdisciplinary nature of the course involving physics, chemistry and biological engineering are well met by the well-organized curriculum provided by international and professional faculty members. Students can get more than the double major necessary for producing future innovative ideas and hints. We welcome young persons who have the high degree of motivation and potential needed for the VJU nanotechnology program.”
