This is the first time ever that Vienam has 2 academic institutions to beranked in this chart, namely Vietnam National University, Hanoi at number 1059, and Vietnam National University,  Ho Chi Minh at number 1176.

Specifically, according to the ranking results, Vietnam National University of Hanoi is honored to have Physics to climbed up 30 positions in comparison to last year, making its way to number 472 in the chart, instead of 502.

This is the 6th times in total that The US News & World Report gives information on this ranking chart. Previously, for over 30 years, The US News & World Report only focused on the ranking of universities and colleges within the US. However, in recent time, the demand of US learners has expanded beyond their local academic institutions. At the same time, with this practice, a comparison is therefore been made between universities in the US and International universities across the globe.

This year, the research was conducted in a wide range of 1.599 universities from 81 countries accross the globe, in which, later on, 1.500 of them were ranked. Best Global Universities made their assessments and arrange the rankings based on the analysis of sciencetific database provided by Clarative Analytics InCites Coporation. Thus, as can be seen, positioning at 1059, Vietnam National University of Hanoi has earned a spot in top 1000+ Universities in the world.

In terms of methods of ranking, Best Global Universities made their assessments on universities based on 13 criterias (as the table underneath has illustrated) in an objective manner, along with their longterm reputation when mentioning about the quality of their scientific research. The results was publicized in Clarivate Analytics InCites’ Database. It has also been clarified that only universities with over 1.500 articles that are published during the period from 2013 to 2017 can undergo this assessment. Scholars participated in this research are chosen from Web Of Science Database, including Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI).
